GP는 휴전협정에 근거해 DMZ 내부에서 작전을 수행하는 경계소초다.

태극기와 유엔기가 나란히 바람에 휘날리는 곳, 외부세계와 완전히 고립된 이곳에서

병사들은 두 달 동안 순환근무를 하며 실전 같은 훈련을 반복한다.

The Guard Post (GP) conducts operations inside the DMZ. Here, where the South Korean flag

and the UN flag fly side-by-side completely isolated from the outside world, soldiers take guard shifts

and repeatedly train in preparation for actual war.

최동북단을 지키는 우리 GP의 전경. 북한 GP로부터 불과 580m 떨어진 이곳은 ‘GP 중의 GP’라고 불린다.

GP에 오르면 바로 앞에 금강산의 절경이 펼쳐지고 매일 아침 동해의 일출을 볼 수 있다.
