두비 브라더즈의 두 번째 정규 앨범 [toulouse street] (1972)의 a면 첫 트랙.

싱글로 발표되어 us 차트 11위, uk 차트 29위를 기록하며 두비 브라더즈에게 첫 싱글 성공을 안겨주었다.

도입부에서부터 몸을 움직이고 싶게 만드는 "탐 존스톤 셔플"이 상큼하게 귀를 적신다.

이 노래를 작사, 작곡한 tom johnston은 훗날의 인터뷰에서 다음과 같이 말했다.

"'listen to the music'은 1960년대말, 1970년대초에 '음악이 가진 힘'에 대한 내 자신의 믿음을 노래한 것이다.

 대중음악이 하나의 예술로서 인종, 세대 간의 장벽을 허물고 인간과 인간 사이의 소통과 화해를 끌어내어

 세상을 긍정적으로 변화시킬 수 있다는 그런 확고한 믿음이 당시 우리 동료들 사이에는 존재했다.

 그러나 불행하게도 음악이 아티스트의 손을 떠나 대형 매니지먼트사에 의해 좌지우지되는 요즘에는

 그런 믿음이 흔들리기 쉽다."
