진화론에 대한 인정은 세계적인 추세이며 이에 발맞추어 세계 종교계도 변화하고 있는데, 오직 왜 한국 기독교만이 변화를 거부하며 손바닥으로 하늘을 가리려 하는지 알수가 없습니다. 적어도 캐톨릭계는 교황마저 나서 다소 진화론을 인정하였는데...

이하는 교황 베네딕토와 msnbc와의 인터뷰를 발췌 번역한 것입니다.

교황 베네딕토는 이번주 북이탈리아 산악지대에서 휴가를 가지던중 msnbc와의 인터뷰를 통해 창조설과 진화론은 믿음속에서 공존할수 있기에 논쟁은 불필요한 것이라고 말했습니다.

과학적 증거가 진화론을 더욱 뒷받침하는 동시에, 진화론은 신의 역활을 배제할수 없다고 말했습니다.

그는 ' 창조설과 진화론은 양자택일로서 존재하면서도,  서로를 포함하면서 존재한다' 라고 했습니다. 

그는 '두 의견의 대립은 불필요합니다. 왜냐면 많은 과학적 증거들이 진화론의 손을 들어주고 있고 사실로 나타고나고 있습니다. 이것을 우리는 반드시 인식하여야 합니다. 그리고 이것은 삶과 존재에 대한 이해를 더욱 향상시킵니다'라고 했습니다. 또한 그는'하지만 진화론은 이모든것이 어디에서 왔는가? 라는 모든 철학적 질문에 대한 답을 주지는 못 합니다' 라고 했습니다.

while there is much scientific proof to support evolution, the theory cannot exclude a role by god, he said according to msnbc news.

“they are presented as alternatives that exclude each other,” the pope said. “this clash is an absurdity because on one hand there is much scientific proof in f*or of evolution, which appears as a reality that we must see and which enriches our understanding of life and being as such.”

however, evolution does not answer all of the great philosophical questions, he said, including: where does everything come from?
